In preparation for the November 3rd election, Ubuntu Village NOLA put together a guide of resources and a social media outreach campaign to help New Orleanians make informed decisions at the polls. Additionally, Ubuntu joined both The Platform For Youth Justice and The People’s DA Coalition, two powerful coalitions working to attain restorative justice by electing officials and holding them accountable.

Youth Justice Forums:

The Platform for Youth Justice (PFYJ) hosted two public forums via ZOOM. The forum for juvenile court justice candidates was held October 1st, while the forum for district attorney candidates took place the 10th.

Social Media Outreach:

In response to the COVID pandemic, Ubuntu shifted outreach strategies to the digital medium. A few parents from our network were trained to disseminate election information resources through social media, personally reaching more than 2,000 New Orleanians via their timelines.
