Now Hiring: Community Violence Interrupters

Update: this job posting is now closed.

Ubuntu is excited to announce a new initiative to reduce violence and foster safer, stronger communities in New Orleans: the Community Violence Intervention Program. In partnership with the City of New Orleans Health Department, Ubuntu will hire, train, and support a team of violence interrupters to prevent deadly conflict and retaliation on the street. These “credible messengers” – who already have standing in the communities they work in – will mediate conflicts, build trust, and promote alternatives to violence.

The program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. Read more about the effort in the New Orleans Tribune.
