The holidays are all about spending quality time with our loved ones. Unfortunately, young people who are incarcerated don’t get to go home for the holidays. That’s why at Ubuntu we bring a piece of the festivities to them. Every December, Ubuntu staff, parents, and volunteers organize a meal at New Orleans’ youth jail. We bring food, gifts, and games to make the season a little brighter for the kids. Most importantly, we ensure young people and their families have the opportunity to share a holiday meal together.
We are especially grateful to our friends at Liberty Barbers, who once again provided gift bags to every child in the jail – giving them a little something to open and reminding them that they are still part of our community.
